2 Men Charged with Alleged DUI

The Law Office of Joel M. Bacher Oct. 15, 2021

Washington Township gave witness to two separate arrests in the early mornings of Oct. 2 and 3, respectively. New Jersey authorities have reported that two men, both suspected of DUI, were arrested and charged following separate accidents. Neither man appears to be in police custody at this time, and no trial dates have been publicly announced at this time.

What Reportedly Took Place at Each Incident?

According to separate reports filed across two days, the first incident took place at around 4 a.m. the morning of Oct. 2. A man who has not been identified publicly by police was found to have crashed his vehicle into a utility pole. He was arrested at the scene and charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane and driving under the influence.

The second man, also unidentified by police at this time, was arrested the following morning around 1 a.m. while traveling on Route 46. The man faces charges of speeding, reckless driving, driving with an expired registration and driving under the influence. Neither report mentioned what roadside sobriety testing if any, took place in either case, and police have not elaborated on why the officers on the scene believed the men to be intoxicated.

Legal Support Moving Forward

This is partially why DUI charges can be complicated when brought before a New Jersey criminal court. Many factors must be taken into consideration in such a case, which is why the defense attorneys representing the two men will carefully review the facts of the case. This may include interviews with the accused men as well as a thorough review of the police reports filed in connection with each case.
